“The Music Man is the perfect show for the holiday season,” said Marilynn A. Wick, Managing Executive Producer. “Audiences of all ages will be delighted by its uplifting escapism replete with marching bands, glorious ballads, dynamic dance routines and a humorous yet heartfelt story.”
The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize – this, despite the fact that he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.
Broadway veteran and Tony award-nominee John Tartaglia (Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, Sesame Street) heads the 39-member cast as the conniving con-man Harold Hill. He is joined by Julie Kleiner (Big national tour, the film Camp, White Christmas, 42nd Street, Crazy for You at The Wick) as Marian the Librarian, Wesley Slade (Shrek, Slow Burn Theatre, Hand to God and It’s Only a Play, Gablestage, Peter Pan, Man of La Mancha, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and La Cage aux Folles at the Wick) as Marcellus Washburn, Angie Radosh (Buried Child, A Delicate Balance, Three Tall Women, The Fourth Wall, The Dresser, and Exit the King, Palm Beach Dramaworks, Curtains, Beauty and The Beast, and The Drowsy Chaperone at The Wick) as Eulalie MacKechnie Shinn and Kevin Reilley (Actors Playhouse, Gablestage. Mosaic Theatre, Island City Stage and MadCat Theatre.) as Mayor Shinn. The ensemble includes Ellie Pattison, Jonathan Eisele, Larry Buzzeo, Michael Cartwright, Dalia Aleman, Elizabeth Renee Turner, James Skiba, and long-time south Florida music director David Nagy.
This rousing new production is directed by Norb Joerder, who is celebrating his 10th production at The Wick (42nd Street, Steel Magnolias, La Cage aux Folles, Mame, Oklahoma!, Pirates of Penzance, Annie, She Loves Me, etc.). David Wanstreet, choreographer returns to The Wick after his successful staging of Crazy for You at The Wick last season. Musical Direction is by Paul Tine. Lighting Design by Jose Santiago.
