Member FAQ

Below are some commonly asked questions about membership benefits
in the South Florida Theatre League and how you can take advantage of them.

  • Marketing Benefits: your organization can post shows to our website, in our various email blasts, and through our social media.
  • Professional Development Opportunities: your staff and board members are invited to participate regularly scheduled workshops aimed at theatre administrators. Previous workshops have ranged on topics from marketing to diverse audiences to sustainability for small organizations.
  • AntiRacism Theatre Strategies Cohort Program: your membership gives you the opportunity to participate in the League’s ongoing AntiRacism cohort program done in consultation with Alexander Christie. The League pays for half of the workshop’s price on behalf of participating cohort members.
  • Collective Advertising: The South Florida Theatre League has various collective advertising initiatives, including a member theatre map rack card, which features a map of all of our member theatres and is placed throughout the community.
  • Summer Theatre Fest: Using each other as leverage, the Summer Theatre Fest Reading Series helps cross pollinate audiences, as patrons attend multiple readings and often go to theatres they have never been to before.
  • Unified Auditions: Participate in our collective auditions, where you can find new talent.
  • Arts Advocacy: The League works to support local, state and national arts funding in partnerships with other arts advocacy groups.
  • Community Events: The South Florida Theatre League attends community events, such as art shows, where we will display our member theatre’s marketing materials – giving you additional exposure.

The South Florida Theatre League has multiple blasts that are aimed at different audiences — from patrons to artists. Below is the rundown of the ongoing ones and their various deadlines.

OnStage Now Monthly Email Blast – this blast goes out to a list of over 5,000 theatre patrons on the 1st of every month. To be included, you need to email Andie Arthur a jpg with your show information at andie@southfloridatheatre.com. These are calendar listings, so we’re not including detailed show information. Square images work best. We only post shows that will be happening that month.

The deadline to be included is the 15th of the month before. For example, to be in the January blast, you’d need to email me by December 15th. A proof blast goes out on the 20th directly to producers for anyone to make changes by the 25th of the month.

If your show is in person, you need to have a space on your website listing COVID-19 safety protocols that we can link to directly. If you don’t have that, we will not be listing your event. This will be enforced until the board decides to lift the restriction.

In the Classroom Monthly Email Blast – This is a similar idea to the OnStage Now Blast, but specifically focused on classes for children and teenagers. A lot of parents are also theatre patrons, and this is a way for our member organizations to market their educational offerings to those parents. It’s not aimed at classes for theatre professionals. (See below Weekly Email Update for that.) Again, please email a jpg to Andie Arthur at andie@southfloridatheatre.com.

The deadline to be included is the 1st of the month that the blast will go out. A proof will go out on the 5th of the month, and corrections can be submitted until the 10th of the month. The blast itself goes out on the 15th of the month.

If your class is in person, you need to have a space on your website listing COVID-19 safety protocols that we can link to directly. If you don’t have that, we will not be listing your event. This will be enforced until the board decides to lift the restriction.

Weekly Email Updates — this blast goes out to 450 industry members. This is where you post auditions, show discounts, etc. It goes out every Wednesday and the deadline to be included is the Wednesday it goes out by 3:00 PM. Unlike the other two blasts, this is a text-based blast. Please submit your calendar listings as you’d like them to be posted to Andie Arthur at andie@southfloridatheatre.com. As with the above blasts, any event that is happening in person needs to have COVID-19 safety information included, particularly artist based information for any auditions.

Ala Carte Blasts – We also have individualized blasts. These blasts will only be focused on what you’d like them to be focused on and they are $50 each. We only offer this once a week and they’re on a first come, first served basis. They are designed with your involvement in the process and may take up to 2 business days to complete. The COVID-19 requirements for any in person event still apply.

  • Weekly Email Updates: Receive weekly updates of news, audition notices, job opportunities, discount ticket offers, and other valuable information.
